The City’s Revised Solid Waste Ordinance is featured in the latest edition of “The Insider,’ the City’s official podcast. The new ordinance takes effect August 1, 2021, with changes to requirements for best practice disposal of grass clippings, bulk item pick-up fees, and fees for private lawn and tree services. The guests are Assistant City Manager Darren Gore and Russell Gossett, director of the Solid Waste Department.

Flooding is one of the costliest disasters in the U.S., resulting in $4 billion in annual property damage and one of the highest losses of life due to natural disaster. Following the Covid-19 delay in 2020, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has resumed the review process for the revised Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) and Flood Insurance Study (FIS) report for Rutherford County, including Murfreesboro. Providing more information about the process is Development Services Executive Director Sam Huddleston.

The Murfreesboro Housing Authority is engaged in a two-phase plan to redevelop two affordable-housing communities in Murfreesboro—Parkside and Mercury Court—similar to Oakland Courts. Murfreesboro’s new Municipal Airport Terminal is featured in the latest edition of “The Insider,” the City’s monthly podcast. The City recently completed construction of a new Municipal Airport Terminal, replacing the old terminal built in 1952. The new 16,000-sqaure-foot terminal includes a large main lobby with raised and ground level observation areas, lounge seating, a large leasable business conference center, smaller conference room space, pilot lounge, and office space.
Guests are Airport Manger Chad Gehrke and Planning Director Greg McKnight. Insider Podcast is hosted by Mike Browning.
